Food Storage

There are a few sites that can help personalize and evaluate your food storage. Check out these sites to help your family out with your personal food storage.

As you see in my previous post, I have done a real basic one year food supply list. These other sites will help you to be a little more thorough with your food storage. It is nice to be able to customize your food storage, which these sites will really help you do. If it is a little overwhelming to start working on a whole one year supply, start with a couple weeks, then a month, then a couple months, and work your way up to where you feel most comfortable. Most families should have at least a 3 month supply on hand.
Don't spend a lot of money by running out and buying up all your food storage at once. Wait and look for deals on what you need for your food storage and buy a little at a time. Keep inventory of what you have on hand and what you need. It helps to make a meal list so you know what you can cook with what you have in storage. Also, collect recipes that use what you have in storage so it will be easier to cook. Buy for your needs, and remember to rotate your food storage. Use what you have, and it will help to cut costs at the grocery store as well.

One quote I like about preparedness and food storage...

H.L. Hunt

Decide what you want,

decide what you are willing to exchange for it.

Establish your priorities,

and go to work.

Hey this is a pretty cool site with lots of good and practical ideas. I see that I can follow the plan to build up food storage in a year, but I don't know how to use wheat. What kind of recipes are out there?

You have a lot of great suggestions on your site.

Anonymous asked for some wheat recipes. We actually have several wheat recipes on our blog, if you are interested. Just click on the "recipes" link and then "search by ingredient". You'll see wheat listed. Good luck!
